Testimony
I didn’t grow up in a christian home. My Dad swayed towards atheism and my Mother didn’t really talk about God or anything. I mean I did go to churches here and there. My Nana’s Catholic church for a Christmas eve service or when I slept over. Or those few times my Mom got asked to go to church by a friend. All I can remember about those churches was the annoying sunday school classes. They had us make dolls out of cardboard tubes or sing children’s songs. I always felt like I was stupid when I went. But I tagged along anyways because I was my Momma’s lil girl. I saw people in my life who always prayed to God and it made me curious. Something made me want to do that too. My Mom was going blind, my Mom who had just started a Photography business…going blind. A friend of my Mom’s invited her to go to this church she was checkin’ out. A big one, unlike the small ones in town. So I of course followed along. The church had it’s children’s Christmas play coming up and the rehearsals were starting soon. I had a love for acting and of course seeing this as a chance to shine I begged my mom to let me be in it. So she gave in and committed to driving me to church every sunday night for practice. My Mom’s eye sight progressively got worse. She had wet macular degeneration. A serious disease which usually is a problem for woman in their 50’s. She was talking to her cousins husband about it and he told her to put her trust and faith in God and so my Mom wanted to go to church more and more and started praying about her eye sight. Turns out my Mom then got sent to one of the best eye doctors in the country. And he said after a few visits, what ever you’re doing, keep doing it, it’s working! And so we kept going to church and my Mom’s faith grew and so did mine as I meet amazing people who encouraged me to seek Jesus. My Mom met a woman at Linens ‘n’ Things and she invited her to go to a Bible study. My mothers eye sight was still not at it’s best and so wanting to go to the study my Dad was recruited to drive her there. My Dad took interest in the historical aspect of the Bible due to the Bible study which had Jewish roots. SO he started reading the Bible regularly. Soon my entire family was attending church. As we got more involved and I learned more about the truth and started reading the Bible on my own. I discovered all the wisdom in the pages, all that could be learned and I found out I could have a relationship with God and I wanted that. So I asked God for forgiveness for the things I’d done and he came into my life. God filled a gap in my life that can’t be explained. But now I’m whole and a wonderful creation in Him. I can honestly say it’s the best desicion I’ve EVER made. I can’t imagine my life without Christ in it. And so I’m living my life for Him.
If you have doubts about the Bible, before you go and criticize it, read it for yourself. Pray to God humbly and ask Him to reveal himself to you, and I am confident he will. Ask me questions If you’d like. I’ll answer them the best I can.
